Physical Education & Sport

The Chilwell Physical Education program strives to offer students a curriculum that is contemporary, relevant, challenging, enjoyable and physically active. It focuses on students enhancing their own and others’ health, safety, wellbeing through physical activity participation in varied, challenging and changing contexts. Physical Education is the key learning area in the curriculum that focuses explicitly on developing movement skills and concepts students require to participate in physical activities with reasonable competence and confidence. Therefore the acquisition of movement skills, concepts and strategies that enable students to be confidently, competently and creatively participate in a range of physical activities are integral to the Physical Education program at Chilwell.

PE 2

The Chilwell Physical Education program is seen as a foundation for lifelong physical activity participation and enhanced performance; students are individually challenged to work at developing their proficiency in movement skills, physical activities and movement concepts. Movement is used as a powerful medium in Physical Education learning, through which students can also acquire, practise and refine personal, behavioural, social and cognitive skills. The Physical Education curriculum at Chilwell is delivered in a way that challenges students to be resilient, make decisions and take actions to promote their enjoyment, health, safety and physical activity participation. Over the course of their Physical Education journey, students will develop and use personal, behavioural, social and cognitive skills and strategies to promote a sense of personal identity and wellbeing and to build and manage respectful relationships.

PE 3The knowledge, understanding, skills and dispositions students develop through movement in Physical Education at Chilwell are designed to encourage ongoing participation across their lifespan that lead to lifelong positive health outcomes across their lives.

Sport @ Chilwell

Students are offered opportunities in a wide range of sports including Football, Soccer, Tennis, Netball, Basketball, Cricket, Kanga Cricket, Athletics, Cross Country. Some of these are school based events that students progress through to a higher level of competition and some are team events where they play against other schools. Teachers assist in the Sport side of things by coaching teams and training with them during the week.
